While birding at Lochwood Park on the 17th of October, I saw what I took to be a red-tailed hawk gliding off in the distance. But, trying to check every bird, I found it in the binoculars, only to almost drop them as I realized what it was. A bald eagle! Once exceedingly rare in north Texas, they are making a comeback here as they are in many parts of the country. A pair of bald eagles even nested in Dallas Country this year, perhaps a first record. So keep looking up and you never know what you might see!
